Author Bios:
Sam Field, MA, LPC, LAC (she/her) is a licensed therapist, educator, and writer specializing in trauma, somatic healing, and the intersection of social justice and mental health. She has taught The Business of Private Practice at the graduate level, where the material in this workbook was developed, tested, and refined based on extensive student feedback. Sam’s professional background integrates clinical expertise with practical business experience, including managing a successful private practice and consulting with therapists nationwide on sustainable, equity-informed practice development. In addition to her clinical and teaching work, Sam is a sought-after speaker and consultant for organizations such as Google, the University of Denver, Boulder County, and national mental health conferences. Her creative and professional writing focuses on trauma, queerness, identity, and collective care. This workbook draws directly from more than a decade of experience teaching, supervising, and mentoring clinicians—bridging clinical ethics, business strategy, and therapist well-being in an accessible, experiential format.

Khara Croswaite Brindle, MA, LPC, ACS, CFT (she/her) is a TEDx Speaker, Certified Financial Therapist, Enneagram professional, and journal therapist living in Colorado. She enjoys various roles as a serial entrepreneur, professional speaker, professor, retreat facilitator, and consultant. Khara specializes in helping therapists and financial therapists build secondary income against burnout and as a professor, she has developed content for this workbook in both counselor graduate school classrooms and in private workshops for therapists. She is the published author of 11 books including The Empowerment Model of Clinical Supervision (2019) and Moving from ALERT to Acceptance: Helping Clinicians Heal from Client Suicide (2024). Khara is originally from the Pacific Northwest and gets her best ideas walking outside and being around water. When she’s not writing her next book or supporting fellow professional helpers on their own self-discovery journeys, Khara enjoys spending time with her daughter, reading, and indulging in gluttonous, gluten-free desserts with her family.Â
